Portugal will continue their quest for a second Euros title when they come up against Slovenia on Monday evening in Frankfurt at Euro 2024.

Momentum going into the knockouts is always welcomed and it is an over-used term, but Portugal will have felt the heat after a dismal display against Georgia where they slumped to a 2-0 defeat.

Slovenia, meanwhile, came through as one of the four third-placed finishers following their performances in Group C, and they managed to keep England at bay.

The business end of any tournament gets serious, and the same principle applies to the Euros.

Anyway, on paper, this appears to be a mismatch, but then things don’t always transpire in the manner fans and pundits would expect.

How will this one unfold? I have delved into the markets and proffered a couple of Portugal Slovenia betting tips to whet your appetite ahead of the game.

We’ve looked at some of the best football betting offers, odds and markets from our range of football betting sites to provide you with Portugal v Slovenia betting tips.

Portugal v Slovenia Match Preview

Portugal to make amends

Privately, there will have been an inquisition held behind closed doors about what happened to Portugal against Georgia.

Roberto Martinez will have been fuming, and with good reason as his side capitulated.

However, against Slovenia, there is no safety net or room for error, and they won’t have too much on their opponents.

This will be only their second meeting with Slovenia, but Slovenia won 2-0 in an international friendly back in March.

Anyway, Portugal will want to make amends and they need to press high and move the ball around much quicker.

I think Portugal will safeguard their progress to the quarter-finals, and I located a shortish price of 5/2 at Paddy Power for Portugal to cement a berth in the last eight with a win & BTTS.

Cristiano Ronaldo to finally show up to the party

Cristiano Ronaldo has some catching up to do, at least in terms of making up some ground in the Euro 2024 scoring charts.

Highly respected, but perhaps a distraction in the camp given his level of fame and prowess, Ronaldo has yet to produce a performance that has left us trying to pick our jaws up from the ground.

Along with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane, Ronaldo has yet to catch fire, and for the first time in his career, he failed to net in the group stages of amajor international tournament.

But against Slovenia, he will look to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, and he could turn in a sublime display.

I like a good match special, and I have discovered odds of 22/1 available at BetMGM for Ronaldo to grab a treble which doesn’t seem that fanciful at first glance.
