Card Betting Tips and Offers

Referees are increasingly under the spotlight, with technology and the advent of VAR meaning every single decision they make over the course of a game is analysed to the nth degree, with more data around than ever before to scrutinise performance.

With that data, we can now look at which referees are most likely to show red or yellow cards, and our team of experts have broken down the games every day to provide a list of card betting tips for you to take advantage of.

Check out our daily Card Betting Tips from Freebets.com’s resident betting experts, focusing on which players are most likely to be carded each day and the statistics of referees involved, as well as the latest free bet offers.

Paul Tierney

In 29 appointments so far this season, Paul Tierney has brandished 117 yellow cards and three reds, an average of 4.14 cards per 90.

His most-recent Arsenal match was the Gunners’ 2-0 win at Molineux, booking five players that night, including Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard.

Meanwhile, the last Man United fixture Tierney officiated was their 3-0 defeat in the Manchester derby in October, also cautioning five players back then, with André Onana, Sofyan Amrabat Bruno Fernandes and Antony amongst those to have their name taken.

Casemiro to be carded

Casemiro has collected eight yellow cards and one red so far this season, sent off against Galatasaray in October, most-recently cautioned during the chaotic 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

Arsenal under 1.5 cards

Arsenal have been shown one card or fewer in 27 matches this season, thereby doing so in 55% of fixtures this season, including the North London derby a fortnight ago.

Manchester United 3+ cards

Manchester United have picked up 3+ cards on 17 occasions this season, thereby doing so in 35.4% of fixtures, one of which was the reverse fixture in September.

The last two times the Red Devis have collected 3+ cards have been against Liverpool so, in another big home game, we’re expecting them to do so again.

What is card betting?

Betting on players or teams to be shown cards can be one of the most rewarding markets in football betting.

Goals can be hard to come by, while not every player can gets shots away during a game, but every player on the pitch is capable of picking up a yellow card for any kind of offence.

Card betting is simply betting on an individual player to be shown a yellow or a red card during the match, but can also be used to back a minimum/maximum number of cards to be shown during the game on either side.

Betting on cards can be a good way to boost the odds in a bet builder, and with the greater focus on VAR, referees and with so much individual data now available, we are able to look at which referees show the most cards, how many cards they show on average per game and which players tend to attract the attention of the officials.

With all this data, card betting is one of the markets available to us that we can most accurately predict.

How to bet on cards?

Card betting is very simple, with several options available to you whether you want to place a single, a double, make it an accumulator or build it into your bet builder.

If you just have a hunch that a certain player will be carded during a game, you can find their odds and place money on it, but there is far more to it than that. With our tips, we will provide some of the data behind a game that will help you build your bet into several picks, which will help you increase the odds.

As well as focusing on one or more players to be carded in a match, you can also back a certain number of cards to be shown in the match itself, or to each side. For example, you can bet on over/under three yellow cards in a game, both teams to receive a card or you can combine them all into one bet and make it into an accumulator, or make an acca across multiple matches/leagues.
