England produced a polished performance to get their series up and running with a victory last night. Now they need to do something they’ve struggled to do in a while. Back it up.

West Indies v England Match Preview
If recent trends with England continue, West Indies are nailed on for victory in Game Two.
So often with England, be it Tests, T20s or ODIs, they’ve been one step forwards, two back.
In truth, I do think the West Indies have so much more to give following a defeat. Despite that, they still showed flashes of real danger. It was an impressive effort, for example, to get to 182-9 having been 69-5 and 117-8.
I suggested that the hosts would win this series, and I do think at a price of 11/10 with Betfred - amongst others - they still offer value given England’s inconsistency.
Stick with super Salt
Before I get onto Phil Salt, who has found some sparkling form over the last week, I’m keen to take on a short price shot on success for home spinner Gudakesh Motie.
Virgin Bet are offering Evens on West Indies left-armer Motie to top the 20.5 mark in their Player Performance market. That’s a point per run, 10 per catch and 20 per wicket.
Motie totalled 63 points in last night’s series opener; a swashbuckling 33 with the bat from number 10 added to a wicket and a catch. You can see why I’m tempted with that.
Opener Phil Salt has now played 10 T20Is against the West Indies and has scored two fifties and three hundreds. He averages 83 against them. Last night’s brilliant 103 not out to power England to that 183 target followed ODI scores of 74 and 59 last week.
I see no reason to divert away from his success as he’s a player who seems to make the most of his form when he’s hot. Paddy Power are offering 3/1 on Salt to pass 50 once again, a price I’d be taking.
Betfair are also offering 3/1 on powerful West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran to be his side’s top batter in the second game of this series.
He hit 38 last night and achieved that feat. In his previous two T20s, both for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League at the end of September and start of October, he hit 101 and 91 not out.
And to finish, I quite like the look of a juicy 15/1 punt on a Betway four-fold, which is available via their Pre-Built bets section.
That’s for Salt and Pooran both to score 25 with the bat and then for England quick Saqib Mahmood and Motie to take two wickets apiece with the ball.
Mahmood was outstanding for his 4-34 last night in only his second appearance of the tour. Motie hasn’t taken two wickets for quite a while in his T20I career, but for that long-shot price I think it’s worth a couple of quid.
