Wales v Montenegro Betting Tips, Odds & Match Preview

Wales face Montenegro on Monday with new manager Craig Bellamy still unbeaten - however, their unbeaten record could have looked more impressive had they not thrown away a two-goal lead to Iceland on Friday night.

Wales v Montenegro Match Preview
As we move into the second half of the Nations League group phase, there are plenty of reasons to be cheerful if you follow the Welsh national team. Three games played under new manager Craig Bellamy and three without defeat.
A trio of games that suggest that the new era of Welsh football is in safe hands and although there is a considerable talent void that still needs to be filled after the retirement of Gareth Bale, there is a sense that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
There may no longer be Bale to dig Wales out of a hole but there are the likes of Brennan Johnson and Harry Wilson and with the pair getting on the scoresheet against Iceland on Friday, it looked as if Wales’ unbeaten run would also record a second successive Nations League win.
0-2 at the break and looking comfortable would soon become 2-2 and looking nervy and whatever Iceland manager Age Hareide said in his team talk at the interval, it was a speech that was certainly worthy of earning his money.
Bellamy and his boys having to make do with just a point and also the unavailability of Tottenham forward Johnson on Monday due to suspension. However, that point does mean Wales have picked up five from the nine on offer and that places them second in Group 4 of League B.
Two points behind table toppers Turkiye and if things stay the same by the end of this current Nations League cycle, it would mean Wales are rewarded with a promotion playoff with one of Europe’s true elite.
However, surpassing Turkiye would mean an automatic promotion berth instead and although the return match of the current top two is still to follow, it is the visit of Montenegro that is at the forefront of Wales’ agenda on Monday.
Which in itself is also a reverse fixture and with these two sides already meeting in September, a 2-1 victory in Niksic thanks to goals from Kieffer Moore and Harry Wilson serves as the winning filling in a Welsh stalemate sandwich.
While Friday night also saw Montenegro in action and whereas Monday’s hosts are unbeaten, the visitors are yet to get off the mark and although they frustrated Turkiye for large portions of the game, the frustration was largely felt after being edged out by a goal to nil in Samsun.
But now it is time for the first of my two tips and because Wales has failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last two outings, I think that run extends to three on Monday. However, I do also envisage the home crowd roaring on the dragons and a home win with both teams to score is 3/1.
In addition to this, I think this could be a rather comfortable win for Wales as they have a point to prove after dropping two on Friday. With that in mind, I am also going to back a 3-1 score in favour of the hosts at the favourable price of 14/1.
