Kirk Cousins Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns
Kirk Cousins has accumulated 3,052 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions this season. However, the Falcons are on a three-game losing streak, and during this period, Cousins has failed to throw a single touchdown pass.
This drought is bound to end, and the matchup against the Vikings presents an ideal opportunity for the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback to bounce back. Minnesota has conceded 23 offensive touchdowns this season, with 18 of those coming through the air.
The Falcons will be eager to end their losing streak. With a fully fit receiving corps, they will rely on Cousins to deliver against his former team. Before signing with Atlanta last summer, Cousins spent six years as a Viking.
Despite recent struggles, Cousins has showcased brilliance on multiple occasions this season. In Week 5, he passed for 509 yards and four touchdowns in Atlanta’s 36-30 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He followed this up in Week 8 with four touchdown passes in a 31-26 win against the Buccaneers and added three more in a 27-21 triumph over the Dallas Cowboys a week later.
Kirk Cousins Over 243.5 Passing Yards
The Falcons will need to rely heavily on Kirk Cousins’ passing ability in this matchup, as the Vikings boast one of the strongest run defences in the league. Minnesota allows just 81.3 rushing yards per game (the best in the NFL) and 3.7 yards per carry (tied for second).
However, the Vikings' secondary has its vulnerabilities. While they rank fourth in the league for sacks (39), they are 28th in passing yards allowed per game (243.3).
Last week, the Vikings allowed Kyler Murray to rack up 252 passing yards and a touchdown. In Week 12, rookie Caleb Williams threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns during the Bears’ 30-27 overtime loss to Minnesota.
Cousins has exceeded 243 passing yards in two of his last three games. In Week 10, he threw for 306 yards against the New Orleans Saints. Despite a tough showing last week, where Cousins went 24-of-39 for 245 yards and four interceptions in a narrow 17-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, he remains a key weapon for the Falcons.
Justin Jefferson Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Justin Jefferson is undoubtedly one of the top wide receivers in the NFL. This season, he has recorded 68 receptions for 1,038 yards and five touchdowns. However, Jefferson is currently enduring a six-game streak without finding the end zone.
The Vikings are likely to target the Falcons’ vulnerable pass defence, setting Jefferson up for a standout performance. Atlanta has conceded 27 offensive touchdowns this season, with 21 of those coming through the air.
Additionally, the Falcons have allowed at least two receiving touchdowns in seven of their last eight outings. Given that they rank 19th in red-zone defence, we’ll conclude our Vikings v Falcons tips by backing Justin Jefferson to score a touchdown.
