The Open Betting Tips & Betting Offers

  • Shane Lowry to win - 35/1 with William Hill
  • Colin Morikawa to lead after the first round - 33/1 with BetMGM

After a thrilling denouement to the Scottish Open last weekend, all eyes will be fixed on The Open Championship this week.

The 152nd edition of the season’s final major will be broadcast from Royal Troon, and Robert MacIntyre will be looking to clinch a maiden Major.

All the emotions poured out from the Scotsman at the Renaissance Club, and he will likely spearhead the Saltire charge after fending off Adam Scott by holing a brilliant birdie at the 18th. Moreover, it made up for his near-miss to Rory McIlroy last year.

Anyway, Royal Troon is steeped in history, and this will be the first staging of an Open there since 2016 when Henrik Stenson went toe-to-toe with Phil Mickelson before prevailing in a classic.

The Americans have tended to have the better of things at Royal Troon, but there are some intriguing prices floating about which have caught my eye.

But who will etch their name on the title this year? I have scurried around the markets and divulged a couple of golf betting tips using our range of online bookmakers to inspire you ahead of the first tee.

Shane Lowry to win

The Open Championship

Shane Lowry’s star to shine bright again

Arguably one of the most eagerly-anticipated Opens, we should expect the weather to be rather interchangeable at Royal Troon this week.

Well, the deteriorating conditions mean that a few will rise to the test, while others will flounder.

One player overdue a major win is Shane Lowry. The Irishman, who was rubbing shoulders with tennis royalty at Wimbledon last week, will be feeling quite relaxed coming into this event.

His last major arrived in 2019, and his form going into the Open then read: MC/8/28. Whereas this year, he’s coming in off sixth at the PGA Championship and 19th at the US Open which augurs well.

From tee to green, Lowry is looking robust of late, so he should be one of the main contenders. When Stenson won at Royal Troon eight years ago, he ranked seventh for scrambling (68.8%), but topped the greens in regulation stat (77.8%).

While Lowry didn’t make the cut at Royal Troon in 2016, he is a masterful chipper, and he can combat the challenges thrown his way.

Reigning Open champion Brian Harman may have been a big outside pick before he trousered the title 12 months ago at Royal Liverpool. I have been brave and gone for Lowry to enter the winner’s circle and be named the Champion Golfer of the Year for the second time. An eye-catching price of 35/1 is available for you to tuck into at William Hill.

Collin Morikawa to make inroads in Round 1

Having good form coming into The Open usually counts for a lot, and Collin Morikawa is a man on the prowl.

A T4 at the Scottish Open followed on from a spate of other top-five finishes in recent weeks, and he looks to be in the groove.

With two majors under his belt, he can never be discounted, and as mentioned, the Americans have a special relationship with Royal Troon.

He’s been impressive in the majors this term, and he’s missed just two of 17 cuts which speaks volumes about where his game is at.

To wrap up my Open picks, there is considerable value in the round betting markets. Morikawa could charge out of the gate and lead after the opening round. Should you fancy that, BetMGM has weighed in with juicy odds of 33/1.
