T20 World Cup Cricket Betting Tips: India vs Pakistan
One of sport’s greatest rivalries graces our latest T20 World Cup betting tips

- India vs Pakistan
- ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Group A
- Sunday, June 9, 2024, 3:30pm (UK)
- Nassau County International Stadium, New York
Well, at least the Pakistan we all know and love has arrived!
One day ragged, as they were in defeat to USA on Thursday. The next day, brilliant.
The word abject crossed my mind to describe Pakistan’s performance in Texas in defeat, but that would be doing the co-hosts USA a massive disservice. Stuart Law’s men were fantastic.
I was chuckling watching it, to be honest, because I was thinking, ‘The readers of my Sunday T20 World Cup betting tips preview are going to think I’m absolutely bonkers - if they don’t already’.
I can see Pakistan beating India, I really can. Don’t push the boat out, but I wouldn’t shy away from having a small stakes punt on Pakistan to win, at 21/10 with Betfred amongst others.
There are a few reasons. One, that defeat against the US was typical Pakistan. They’re mercurial. Two, I’ve had concerns about India leading into this tournament. See my tournament preview. Three, I think Pakistan’s bowling attack could be very well suited to a tricky batting pitch should the NY trend continue.
In the first two matches at this pop up stadium - built in a park with a drop-in square which has played awfully - it hasn’t been a great spectacle at all. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 77 by South Africa and Ireland for 96 by India.
If you could guarantee that Pakistan would get 150, I’d be thinking that we were in business.
Here are our top cricket betting tips for Sunday’s match, plus the best betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
Izzy Wizzy, Let’s Get Rizzy with bet365
It’s a wicketkeeper’s lockout in this preview, as both Mohammad Rizwan and Rishabh Pant look nicely priced for success.
Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Rizwan has a very decent career record in this rivalry fixture; 248 runs in seven limited overs matches (six innings), including two fifties. He averages 49.6 with the bat, and he’s taken five catches and a stumping.
He’s going to be key to his side’s chances of victory, for me. If he can get off to a flyer, he’ll put his side in a great position. And he should be in the game with the gloves too.
With that in mind, I quite like the over 31.5 points on bet365′s player performance, at 5/6. It’s 25 points per stumping, 10 per catch and one per run.
Long shot has appeal
Indian star Pant’s return to action over the last couple of months following that well-documented horror road accident has been such a good news story.
In his last 10 T20 innings, both for Delhi at the IPL and for India, he has only failed to reach 20 twice and on six occasions has topped 30 - bet365 have him 11/8 to score 30 runs or more in this fixture.
It surprises me greatly that Pant, a man in form batting at three for India, is as juicy as 5/1 to be their top batter in this match. That’s on offer with BetVictor, and it’s a price I’d be having a nibble at.
I also think Betfair’s 15/2 on there to be a duck, a stumping and a run out in this fixture is worth taking on.
In the first match in New York, Sri Lanka v South Africa, there were three ducks, a stumping and a run out. In the India v Ireland game, there was a duck and run out.
In tricky batting conditions, ducks and stumpings are very much in play. In the intensity and craziness of this rivalry, a run out has to be a chance.
