Swansea v Cardiff Betting Tips, Odds & Match Preview - Championship Betting Tips

It is the first South Wales derby of the season as Swansea host a Cardiff side bottom of the Championship table and without a point in their opening two games.

It might still be the early stages of the season but with two defeats, seven goals conceded and none scored, it is already looking like it could be a difficult season for the Bluebirds.

I’ve reviewed the best football betting offers, odds, and markets from our selection of top football betting sites to bring you free betting tips for Swansea v Cardiff.

Swansea v Cardiff Match Preview

While Cardiff have lost those two opening matches - and lost them convincingly - they did come against two of the stronger teams in the league, in Sunderland and then Burnley.

It was the manner of the defeat to Burnley which will have been most concerning, conceding five goals against the recently relegated side and this derby could turn out to be well timed as it should spark them into gear.

If not, then a record of three defeats out of three and a derby loss starts to paint a picture of a club in crisis, but we’re not there yet.

They have been busy in the transfer market over the window so it will be interesting to see how the likes of Chris Willock, Calum Chambers and Will Fish settle in, and you would think that those three - along with Alex Robertson - will have a big say in how Cardiff fare this season.

For Swansea, it has been an encouraging start to the campaign and there is optimism that Luke Williams’ ideas are starting to come to fruition after joining midway through the season last term.

It is early stages again, but one win and one defeat is encouraging enough but this will be the acid test for their credentials after a full summer for Williams’ ideas to bed in.

It should be an entertaining game either way, as one of the few rivalries that still prompts the old-school aggression and excitement that fans crave and I’m expecting a few goals to be scored.

There have been eight goals in Swansea’s three games so far (including the EFL Cup) and nine in Cardiff’s, so over 3.5 goals to be scored at 9/4 with Betfair looks like a good place to start in terms of betting tips for this game.

Secondly I’m expecting - and hoping - it will be a pretty feisty affair, so I’m looking at the cards market and over 4.5 cards to be shown in the match, with one of them being a red card is 10/1 with bet365 and I quite like the look of that.
