I’m not surprised to see the Florida Panthers listed as favourites to win this series, if you were to put together a description of what you want from a Stanley Cup team, then I think they almost nail it.
Their desire to win, depth on both the blue line and forward core, rock solid goaltending, special teams, they have it all.
But of course, the Edmonton Oilers have Connor McDavid. He’s not the only one, but he’s the superstar, the X factor, the potential game and series winner, that no one else can really match.
That’s not to doubt the Oilers as a team, but they are top heavy, and rely on McDavid, plus a couple more, to get them over the line.
