Scottish Open Betting Tips & Betting Offers

  • Rory McIlroy to win the Scottish Open - 15/2 with BetVictor
  • Tom Kim to lead after the first round - 33/1 with Paddy Power

All roads lead to The Open, and this week, the Scottish Open will take centre stage.

Held at the Renaissance Club, this event will kickstart two weeks of links golf, and there will be a world-class field hoping to fine-tune their preparations.

While Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau, and Scottie Scheffler decided to skip the jaunt to North Berwick, the inclement weather conditions could make this a tricky test.

At first glance, the Renaissance Club track doesn’t appear the most challenging as it plays as a par 70 with five par 3s and three par 5s, and the fairways are generous.

This event, which was co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour in 2022, has seen many household names collect the title over the years, including Phil Mickelson (2013) and Justin Rose (2014).

But who will etch their name on the title this year? I have scurried around the markets and divulged a couple of golf betting tips using our range of online bookmakers to inspire you ahead of the first tee.

Rory McIlroy to banish US Open woes

After a month off to reflect on what could have been, the US Open represented another golden opportunity for Rory McIlroy to add to his Major collection.

There will have been some significant scar tissue, and McIlroy will have lamented his putting wobble.

However, a trip to the Renaissance Club will lift the Ulsterman’s spirits, and he triumphed in style last year, producing a birdie-to-birdie finish to pip local hero Robert MacIntyre to the title.

McIlroy ranked first for Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, and since 2019, the winners have ranked third, second, fourth, first and first in that performance metric.

Anyway, in seeing off MacIntyre, McIlroy became the first player to claim back-to-back Rolex Series titles. He also tore up the history books as he broke new ground to become the first golfer to win the Scottish Open, The Open, and the Irish Open.

This could well be the perfect chance for McIlroy to lay down a marker and hit back at his critics. To open up my Scottish Open betting tips, my first pick is for McIlroy to produce the perfect riposte and claim the title. He can be backed at a shortish 15/2 with BetVictor to do so.

Tom Kim to surge to strong start

A missed cut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic might not have been a good omen, but Tom Kim has generally been in fine fettle over the past few months.

The 22-year-old, who was third on his debut at the Renaissance Club in 2002, followed that up with a sixth-placed finish last year, so he will want to rekindle such memories.

Despite not necessarily possessing great length off the tee, he’s been displaying good course management skills, and he has a maturity beyond his years.

Kim could well come up short at the weekend, but he might head the pack after Round 1.

To wrap things up, I have located an eye-catching price of 33/1 for Kim to be the leader after the first round at Paddy Power which could pique your interest.
