Pittsburgh Steelers Under 19.5 Points
George Pickens has been ruled out of Week 16 due to a hamstring injury, leaving the Steelers facing a significant challenge without their top wide receiver. The Ravens boast the NFL's best run defense, allowing just 80.7 rushing yards per game and 3.5 yards per carry.
Without Pickens, Pittsburgh’s offence will likely struggle to gain momentum. Pickens leads the team in targets (90), receptions (55), and receiving yards (850). In the Steelers’ narrow Week 11 win over Baltimore, he recorded eight catches for 89 yards. However, this will mark his third consecutive absence.
Over the past two weeks, Russell Wilson has thrown for a mere 254 yards. Last Sunday, he completed 14-of-22 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown in Pittsburgh’s 27-13 road loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Steelers relied on six field goals to secure their 18-16 victory against the Ravens in Week 11 and are likely to struggle to surpass 20 points again. While Baltimore allows 258.9 passing yards per game (31st in the NFL), they rank third in sacks (44) and second in quarterback hits (104), meaning Wilson will face significant pressure.
Additionally, the Steelers are unlikely to find success on the ground against the Ravens’ formidable defence. Baltimore is coming off an impressive 35-14 victory over the New York Giants and has held opponents under 20 points in three of their last six games.
Lamar Jackson Over 28.5 Passing Attempts
The Steelers’ run defense remains formidable, ranking fourth in the league with 94.4 rushing yards allowed per game and fifth with 4.0 yards allowed per carry. In Week 11, Pittsburgh managed to contain Baltimore’s powerful ground game, limiting them to 124 rushing yards.
Baltimore boasts an impressive offense, scoring 29.9 points per game (3rd in the NFL) while averaging 178.4 rushing yards (2nd) and 245.6 passing yards (3rd). In the Week 11 loss to the Steelers, Lamar Jackson completed 16 of 33 passes for 207 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Pittsburgh’s pass defense, however, has vulnerabilities. The Steelers concede 222.3 passing yards per game (22nd) on 33.9 passing attempts (23rd). Baltimore is likely to capitalise on these weaknesses, making Lamar Jackson a key factor in our Ravens v Steelers tips.
Jackson has attempted at least 33 passes in three of his last five games. In last week’s 35-14 victory over the Giants, the Ravens rushed for 170 yards on 31 carries. Meanwhile, Jackson showcased his efficiency, completing 21 of 25 passes for 290 yards and a remarkable five touchdowns.
