Friendly football continues this weekend, as clubs get back into the swing of regular action, and arguably the biggest friendly on Scottish soil takes place on Saturday, with Rangers playing Manchester United at Murrayfield.

Plenty of United starts will be missing from this one, due to Euro 2024 and the Copa America, but their side should still be respectable, and if last weekend is anything to go by, Rangers should play a strong side.

Rangers v Manchester United Preview

Both teams suffered defeat in their opening pre season game, Rangers lost 2-1 to Ajax while Manchester United lost 1-0 to Rosenborg.

Bouncing back will be what both want, but in particular, I thought it was interesting that Erik ten Haag came out publicly to say he was disappointed with his team on Monday, and expected a lot more.

They lost 1-0, but it could have been a lot more, his team weren’t at the races, even if you take into account the youngsters who played a part.

For Rangers, this is another tough test, which is what they wanted from pre season. Their opener is on August 3, so time is ticking, and minutes into the legs of key players will be the main aim of this one.

Rangers v Manchester United Team News

Manchester United are the team to talk about here, with some players unavailable.

Those who played in international tournaments recently, are amongst the players not available, including the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Rasmus Hojlund, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez and more.

Jonny Evans, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Maruch Rashford all played in Norway on Monday, and look set to play again here.

Scott McTominay, Jadon Sancho, Harry Maguire, Antony, Victor Lindelof and Andre Onana all missed the game on Monday, but this could be the first pre season game where they play some part.

Rangers have a few injuries which include Todd Cantwell, James Tavernier and Nico Raskin, they will all miss the game.
