Portsmouth v West Brom Match Preview
Portsmouth have only lost once, so far, in their first season back in the Championship, but John Mousinho’s side are also winless.
Plus, Pompey might feel fortunate to have the points tally they’ve assembled, drawing 3-3 and 2-2 at Leeds and Middlesbrough respectively by being clinical from a low volume of shots while their opponents were comparatively wasteful.
They also drew 0-0 with Luton, despite facing 10 men for an hour, after Thomas Kaminski’s red card.
It’s been a tough opening run of fixtures, though, and they’ll be keen to get to the more favourable games over October and November.
For now, though, West Brom represent challenging opponents, with Carlos Corberán’s side having taken 10 points from their opening four games.
Darnell Furlong, Semi Ajayi, Kyle Bartley and Torbjørn Heggem have established a real defensive synergy as a back-four, while Tom Fellows and Josh Maja have brought the attacking craft.
That formula should see the Baggies pick up another three points on their trip south, with a squad that benefited from a strong conclusion to the window.
