Port Vale v Chesterfield Match Preview
Chesterfield were somewhat fortuitous to come away with a 2-1 victory over Grimsby last time out, given the volume of chances their visitors created.
However, the Spireites were unlucky in defeat at Gillingham, and deserved more than a point at home to both Swindon and Salford, so Paul Cook’s side were due a slice of fortune.
The flair of Dilan Markanday, the agile craft of Armando Dobra, the direct goal threat posed by James Berry, and the selfless running of Will Grigg, along with the firepower the Northern Irishman provides, makes for a dangerous attacking quarter, who wrecked havoc in their 5-0 victory at Crewe on gameweek two.
As such, Chesterfield will feel they can do damage in that corner of the world again, this time foregoing their trip west on the A500, as they go to Vale Park.
Port Vale got their second win of the season, a 4-1 thumping of Newport at Rodney Parade, but Darren Moore’s side have looked otherwise unconvincing.
