Odds slashed on Manchester City’s Phil Foden to win PFA Player of the Year award


Manchester City faced off with Aston Villa on Wednesday and ran out 4-1 winners with Phil Foden scoring a hat-trick for the Sky Blues.

Following the game, odds have been slashed to 21/10 from 3/1 with Betfair on Phil Foden winning the 2023/24 PFA Player of the Year award.

Foden’s Manchester City teammate, Rodri, is the 10/3 second-favourite to win the award, with Declan Rice 5/1 and Virgil van Dijk and Erling Haaland both 7/1 contenders.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Odds have been slashed on Phil Foden to win the 2023/24 Player of the Year award. The Man City star is now 21/10 to pick up the esteemed prize, having been 3/1 before scoring his second hat-trick of the Premier League season against Aston Villa on Wednesday night. Foden’s teammate, Rodri, trails at 10/3 with Declan Rice 5/1 and Virgil van Dijk and Erling Haaland 7/1 contenders.”

Foden has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 30 Premier League outings for Manchester City this term.

Mohamed Salah (25) and Heung-min Son (23), both of whom play in more advanced roles than Foden the majority of the time, are the only non-strikers with more goal contributions than the Englishman this season.
