Money, Money, Money: Which Player Will Next Break The Transfer Record

Last year broke all records with Paul Pogba moving to Manchester United for a whopping £89million and this year looks set to break records once more.

Plenty of clubs are in line to fork out record-breaking sums again, but which player could become the newest most expensive player of all-time?

Diego Costa

It’s looking increasingly likely that Diego Costa could leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with Tianjin favourites for his signature. It could earn the Spaniard a cool £30million per year, while Chelsea could make as much as £150million from the deal according to recent reports.

It’s an extortionate amount for a 28-year-old, but while Chelsea won’t stand in his way, they won’t be shy about getting the absolute maximum for their star striker either.

Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe has revealed he will consider his options at the end of the season and it’s no surprise given the amount of high-profile teams sniffing around him. There could well be a war for the 18-year-old’s signature this summer, resulting in a record transfer.

Teenagers are normally unchartered waters when it comes to transfers but the Monaco man has already proved himself with 23 goals this season and some wonderful displays in the Champions League.

Manchester United and Chelsea have the budget to sign the forward but Real Madrid are favourites to sign Mbappe, and we know they don’t mind breaking transfer records!

Antoine Griezmann

Rumours that Antoine Griezmann could be heading to Old Trafford are getting stronger and stronger by the day and that means only one thing – another record breaking transfer for the Red Devils.

With Ibrahimovic likely to move on after suffering a lengthy injury and Wayne Rooney a shadow of his former self, United are putting focus on strengthening their front line.

After flexing their financial muscles last summer, it appears a deal is already in place for Atletico Madrid’s in-form forward. To confirm his signature, United will have to put in a figure of around £90 million to activate his release clause and bring him over to the Premier League as Mourinho looks to challenge for the title.

Eden Hazard

Zinedine Zidane is desperate to sign Chelsea’s Eden Hazard this summer according to reports but it’ll take a huge sum for Antonio Conte to give up his star man.

£70million is the figure currently being thrown around, but Chelsea could up the ante for him after a fine season in a blue shirt. Chelsea have opened contract talks with the Belgian which would end all speculation if he was to extend his deal at Stamford Bridge, while Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is also putting a dampener on the move with him favouring giving James Rodriguez another chance.

It’ll be interesting to see how this one pans out. It’s likely we’ll see him in trying to retain the Premier League title next season but Real Madrid could come in for him, among a few other European giants too.
