Manchester United v Bodo/Glimt Match Preview
We're one game into the Ruben Amorim tenure at Old Trafford, but he will be keen to get his first win under his belt as soon as possible, and the Europa League offers a great opportunity to do that.
Four games into their European campaign and the Red Devils have just one win and three draws to leave them in 15th place, and they need to start picking up wins if they want to finish in the automatic qualification places.
But Thursday's opposition offers the perfect opportunity for Amorim - even though they have two wins and a draw to sit 12th in the standings - after they were held to a 1-1 draw against Ipswich on Sunday.
There were plenty signs though of a new direction and evidence of Amorim's approach to coaching in that opener, so it will be interesting to see whether he uses this opportunity to have a look at some members of his squad or focuses on getting a regular side used to his methods.
Marcus Rashford is one player I'll be keeping an eye on in particular.
It was significant that he was the main man up top on Sunday and he responded with a goal, and he could be a real winner out of the new system under Amorim. We have seen him blow hot and cold in the past and I reckon we're just about to see him go on another run.
With that in mind, I'm backing him to open the scoring at 21/4 with Unibet on Thursday, but it would not be a huge surprise to see Rasmus Hojlund get a go instead - I just reckon Amorim will be keen to get his preferred XI bedded in ASAP.
It feels foolish to back Manchester United so heavily considering their struggles - particularly in Europe - but they should be really encouraged by the out-of-possession work they did at times on Sunday, and I think they should overwhelmn their Norweigan opponents on the day.
I fancy a home win and BTTS, but to stretch those odds out a little more I'm going to hedge my bets with a correct score prediction of 3-1 at 11/1 with William Hill. They have struggled for clean sheets but the attacking talent should enjoy their new freedom.
