Lions v Packers Tips: NFL Week 9 Predictions & Betting Offers

Another action-packed NFL Sunday is upon us, with one of the most exciting Week 9 games set to unfold at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. The 6-1 Detroit Lions take on the 6-2 Green Bay Packers in an NFC North showdown, and we’ve put together our Lions v Packers tips in the form of a bet builder.
Both teams have been in excellent form recently, with the Lions chasing a sixth consecutive win and the Packers looking for their fifth straight victory.
Leading UK betting sites give a slight edge to Detroit, listing the Lions as 2.5-point favourites on the road, with a total points line set at 48.5.

Detroit Lions -2.5
Escaping Lambeau Field with a win is no easy feat, as the Packers have only lost two of their last nine home games. However, the Lions have managed it twice in the past two years, including a 34-20 victory in Green Bay last season.
The Lions have been unstoppable lately, with three of their last four wins coming by double digits. Last week, they thrilled the home crowd with a 52-14 rout of the Tennessee Titans. Detroit also remains unbeaten on the road this season.
The Packers, meanwhile, have won three of their last four games by five points or fewer. In their last two outings, they secured victories with game-winning field goals as the clock ran out. Something has to give in this matchup, and I believe the Lions are the stronger team.
Detroit boasts the highest-scoring offence in the NFL, averaging 33.4 points per game, while the Packers rank sixth with 27.0 points. Defensively, the Lions allow 19.1 points per game (8th in the league), whereas Green Bay concedes 21.3 points per game (12th).
Detroit’s running game is led by the dynamic duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, who have combined for 1,006 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns this season. On the Packers' side, Josh Jacobs shoulders the load with 667 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Finally, Jordan Love’s performance has been inconsistent, with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions over six starts. If Love continues to turn the ball over, the Packers could be in trouble. Meanwhile, Jared Goff leads the NFL in completion percentage (74.1%), with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions over seven starts.
Over 48.5 Points
We’re anticipating a high-scoring contest at Lambeau Field. The Packers just conceded 27 points to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and with the Lions boasting one of the NFL’s best offensive lines, Green Bay is likely to struggle to contain them.
Additionally, the Packers rank 20th in the league for red-zone defence (60.7%). The Lions, meanwhile, sit ninth in this area (47.4%), but their defence has its vulnerabilities as well. Detroit allows 4.7 yards per carry (22nd) and 247.6 passing yards per game (27th), giving the Packers opportunities to move the chains.
Last season, Detroit and Green Bay split their two games, both of which saw over 50 points scored. In fact, four of their last six meetings have gone over the total.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Anytime Touchdown Scorer
We’ll finish our Lions v Packers tips with Detroit’s top wide receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown. St. Brown leads the Lions with 41 catches, 408 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns, scoring in each of the last five games.
The Lions were dominant against the Titans last week, with St. Brown making just two receptions for seven yards and a touchdown. The week before, he recorded eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown in a 31-29 road victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
The Packers have conceded 19 offensive touchdowns this season, with 12 of those through the air. Their red-zone defence is far from elite, giving St. Brown a strong chance to continue his scoring streak.
