All eyes will be on Laytown on Monday afternoon as the County Meath town holds its annual race meeting on the beach, offering a spectacular backdrop.
Laytown is extremely popular and crowds in excess of 5,000 have proved common in recent years, flocking to the seaside to enjoy the exciting racing action.

5:05pm Laytown - Cherry Pink
When looking for betting pointers at Laytown, two spring to mind - course-winning form and horses trained by Ado McGuinness.
McGuinness boasts a 25% strike rate at the beach course over the past three years, and he’s set to saddle four horses on Monday, and his best chance of a winner could lie with Cherry Pink in the 5:05pm race.
Cherry Pink got off the mark at Bellewstown over a mile in August and backed that up with a solid effort when placing 2nd at Gowran two weeks ago, with the horse that finished 4th that day winning since.
She drops back in trip today but looks to have an excellent chance in a wide-open-looking handicap.
6:35pm Laytown - Punk Poet
As mentioned, winning form over the unique course at Laytown is worth keeping a close eye on.
One such horse is the Edward Lynam-trained Punk Poet, who won this race last year from a mark of 70 despite the jockey’s saddle slipping in the early stages of the race.
Five of his eight career victories have come at Dundalk, highlighting his liking for all-weather surfaces, and a recent spin round Navan should have him spot-on fitness-wise for this.
Amateur jockey John Gleeson takes the ride, and he’s been in excellent form, steering home two winners from his last two rides.
