Key Manchester City star tells Pep Guardiola he needs a rest

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has revealed he needs some time to rest after the Sky Blues’ Champions League quarter-final clash with Real Madrid.

The Manchester outfit have another match this week, though, facing off with Luton Town at 3 pm BST on Saturday. Back Man City to beat Luton at 1/10 with bet365.

Rodri needs a rest

Rodri was one of City’s weakest performers in the 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, showing signs of tiredness amid a relentless schedule of matches.

However, Pep Guardiola is probably not too keen to rest his fellow countryman at such a key stage of the season.

The Sky Blues have another Champions League meeting with Real Madrid next week and are currently embroiled in one of the tightest Premier League title races we have seen for many years.

And the stats suggest that Man City will need Rodri for the majority of their remaining games this term. Rodri has missed just four matches for City this season and they have lost all of them. On his need for a rest, the midfielder said post-Real Madrid:

“I do need a rest, let’s see how we deal with the situation,” Rodri told reporters after the epic quarter-final first leg. “Sometimes I need to adjust but it is what it is.”
