The Edinburgh-born runner won gold at the 2023 World Championships but faces Tokyo gold medallist Ingebrigsten who beat him in the semi-finals and has sparred with Kerr in recent years, creating an obvious rivalry between the two.

The competition and rivalry between Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigsten is palpable, and it is really bubbling up into one of the most intriguing battles on the track at the Games.
There’s not much to separate them either. Ingebrigsten won gold at Tokyo, he is the Olympic record holder and generally has had the better of the rivalry over the years (he has won 12 of their last 15 meetings), but he is undoubtedly a little rattled by Kerr having been beaten by him at the World Championships in Budapest.
