- French Open, Men’s Final
- Roland Garros, Paris
- Sunday, June 9, 2024, 2pm
This is a pretty enticing final. There will be those who say they’d rather have seen the likes of Novak Djokovic and/or Jannik Sinner involved this week, but Messrs Alcaraz and Zverev should put on a show.
World number three Alcaraz beat Sinner in yesterday’s five-set semi-final, while Zverev - ranked fourth - was also made to work as he came from a set down to beat Casper Ruud in four.
I expect Alcaraz to claim a third grand slam title and dash Zverev’s hopes of a first. But it shouldn’t be easy.
Instead of going on a straight Alcaraz win, given I’m not keen on backing him at 4/11, bet365 have a couple of prices of interest.
Their first is the 6/5 on Alcaraz to win and both players to win a set.
The second of those is a 6/4 shot on the Spaniard to win and there to be over 36.5 games in the match. A 6-4, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, for example, would comfortably do the trick.

Both players have had to dig deep
Zverev has been involved in two five-set matches at this tournament and has had to come from behind on three occasions. Alcaraz has been more dominant but had to come from behind twice in yesterday’s five-set semi with Sinner.
With that in mind for this French Open betting tips preview, Ladbrokes are offering 27/10 on either player to lose the first set and then go on to win the match.
Between the pair of them, that has happened on four occasions throughout the fortnight.
I would also be taking Alcaraz to win this final 3-1 on the correct sets score market. That’s available at 11/4 with BetVictor. Having said that, I also wouldn’t deter anyone from getting on board with a five-setter. That wouldn’t be a surprise.
And finally, German Zverev has played out five tie-breaks in this run to his second Grand Slam final compared to two for Alcaraz.
It might be worth considering Betfair’s 5/1 on there to be over 1.5 tiebreaks in this match.
