There’s live Scottish League Cup action again on Premier Sports on Saturday evening as Dundee United face Ayr United at Tannadice.
After being relegated the previous year, Dundee United returned to the Scottish Premiership at the first attempt, finishing top of the Championship table last season, six points ahead of Raith Rovers.
Jim Goodwin’s team began their League Cup campaign with a 2-0 loss to newly promoted Falkirk but rebounded with a routine 3-0 victory over Stenhousemuir during the week.
Ayr United, meanwhile, were relieved to remain in the Championship last term, finishing seventh, just two points above the relegation playoff spot.
Scott Brown’s side started their League Cup campaign in positive fashion, defeating Falkirk 1-0 at Somerset Park.

Dundee United dominated Ayr in the Scottish Championship last season, winning all four clashes between the sides, as the Arabs cruised to the title and sealed their return to the Scottish Premiership.
They kicked off their Scottish League Cup campaign last weekend with a 2-0 loss to Falkirk but bounced back midweek with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Stenhousemuir.
Ayr defeated Falkirk midweek, and they’ll head to Tannadice on Saturday, confident they can return with something from the match.
However, United were a class above The Honest Men last season and boasted an excellent defensive record, conceding just 23 times in 36 games.
With Ayr failing to score in four of their final seven competitive away games last season a chance is taken on United to win to nil on Saturday.
Moult to continue fine start
Moult was in excellent form for Dundee United last season, scoring 18 league goals to aid his side’s title win, including getting on the mark against Ayr.
He scored against Stenhousemuir during the week and looks like a solid bet to grab the opening goal at Tannadice on Saturday evening.
