Cole Palmer injury update

Before facing Everton, Mauricio Pochettino has allayed fears Cole Palmer picked up an injury vs Sheffield United.

Palmer, who has 19 goals and 13 assists in 2023/24, came off after 72 minutes versus the Yorkshire outfit, sparking fears of a problem.

However, when asked whether Palmer was injured after coming off at Bramall Lane, Pochettino said: “No, no. “I think he was tired. My feeling was he was tired. 2-1 for us, Carney (Chukwuemeka) is another No10 who can play there and do the job.”

On his players being tired, the Argentine added: “Of course the players were tired, but that is not an excuse today to not win the game in the end. They can be tired, of course, that is why we have an unbelievable training centre to provide everything.

“For different reasons, we struggle to compete in these types of games. We score, we are better, we are under control, but in a situation like this we concede from nowhere. It’s about being more competitive.”
