We have another seven Champions League second-round qualifiers on Wednesday after Tuesday’s matches, and this time round we have Dynamo Kyiv and Maccabi Tel Aviv among those involved.
It is the second leg of all matches, meaning teams are just three ties away from competing in the Champions League proper, so there is plenty at stake for the teams even at this stage of the season.

Champions League Acca
Lille to win
This is a tough one to call, and I don’t think Lille will have it all their own way in this tie against a Fenerbahce who have been pretty entertaining so far in qualifying. Jose Mourinho’s side made hard work of it against Lugano in an un-Jose Mourinho-like 6-4 aggregate win.
Lille are also going through a change in leadership after Paulo Fonseca left at the end of the season so it’s a hard game to call. I am going with Lille to edge this opening tie but there’s a good chance Fenerbahce go through over the course of the two legs.
Sparta Prague to win
Both sides are a couple of games into their respective league seasons, but Sparta have certainly had the better start of the two with a perfect record and a convincing win over Shamrock Rovers in the last round of qualifying. FCSB needed a late winner against Maccabi Tel Aviv themselves, so I think home advantage for Sparta will be enough to get them a first-leg advantage.
Dynamo Kyiv v Rangers - BTTS
Rangers are already in a bit of chaos after a miserable pre-season and a lot of turnover in the squad, so the Kyiv side will certainly be favourites to progress but I still fancy Rangers to nab a goal. I think they will lose ultimately, but they’ll know they need to stay in the game before heading back to Glasgow for the return leg next season.
RB Salzburg to win
There could be quite a lot of interest in RB Salzburg, with former Liverpool assistant Pep Ljinders taking the manager’s job after speculation linking him to be Jurgen Klopp’s successor. Salzburg have a point to prove after surprisingly failing to win the Austrian league for the first time since 2012/13.
Twente face an uphill battle in this one, and considering their pre-season form (just one win in five), I don’t think they’ll have enough to stop Salzburg from winning.
