Cardiff v Portsmouth Match Preview
Omar Riza deserves immense credit for turning a Cardiff side that had been struggling at the foot of the table under Erol Bulut, into suddenly one of the more vibrant, creative sides in the Championship.
The Bluebirds pumped Plymouth Argyle 5-0 on Saturday, with five different goalscorers, but that kind of result had been coming, following a positive performance in a 1-1 draw at Bristol City just before the international break.
The biggest think Riza has done is bring Rubin Colwill in for Aaron Ramsey, making his selection policy more meritocratic, with the Welsh prospect bringing fresh dynamism and invention, sparking more in turn, out of the likes of Callum Robinson, Alex Robertson and Perry Ng.
Portsmouth, themselves, got off the mark on Saturday, coming from behind to record a 2-1 victory at QPR thanks to an excellent individual display from Callum Lang in a spirited team performance.
The hosts, though, could be set to climb out of the relegation zone, giving credence to Riza’s application.
