Burnley v Sunderland Match Preview
This is a massive game in terms of the Championship season with both clubs closing the gap to league leaders Leeds in recent matches.
It's no surprise to see Burnley up at the top of the league and while they've already been active in the transfer window, you wouldn't be surprised to see them add further players to establish themselves in the top two.
There have been strong links to Morgan Whittaker this week and that shows the ambition they are showing, because they certainly haven't been scoring enough goals and that is the one thing you could throw at Scott Parker and the job he has done so far this season.
They have been largely reliant upon James Trafford in goal and while he has been excellent, there is only so long he can maintain his goal-stopping record and eventually the forwards will have to fire.
Sunderland on the other hand have been a surprise package this season and have already shown that they mean real business with the addition of Enzo Le Fee, who comes with a very good reputationfrom Roma and will be epected to feature prominently between now and the rest of the season.
I caught up with Sky Sports and BBC pundit Clinton Morrison ahead of the game to see what he thought.
Clinton Morrison on Burnley v Sunderland
This is a big game.
Burnley are a good team under Scott Parker. Defensively very good. One of the best teams in the Championship defensively.
I think he'd want more goals from his attacking players and that's why I think Burnley are trying to do business with the likes of Morgan Whittaker and trying to bring in players that can get you more goals.
But this is a hell of a game. This will be a tight game, and it’s a difficult place to go, but Sunderland’s kids have no fear factor - they're going to go there, they're going to enjoy it.
So it's close game. I'd probably say this would be a scoring draw, like a 1-1. I do think Sunderland will score but Burnley will score as well. I think it'll be an open game.
There's two good teams, two good managers doing a really good job. It will be a good advert for the Championship.
