Bristol City v Leeds Match Preview
Having convincingly beaten Sheffield United at Elland Road last weekend that was as much a statement of intent in the ease with which they ran past their promotion rivals, Leeds travel to Bristol for what should be a tricky tie on Saturday.
They followed that 2-0 walkover with a less convincing 2-1 win at home to Watford that was in large part down to the horror show from keeper Daniel Bachmann to take six points from a possible six inside the week.
Even with an ever-increasing injury list, it means that all things considered, Leeds are starting to look pretty ominous for Championship rivals.
However there are some certain weaknesses.
As good as Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka have been in midfield, the absences of Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev remain significant and the defence still looks a bit too easy to get at, and sooner or later you would fancy that costing them.
Largie Ramazani is the latest injury to the list while Junior Firpo's suspension deprives them of one of their key attacking outlets, but with Manor Solomon and Dan James returning they have plenty of strength in depth in the attacking areas.
While you would assume Ashton Gate is no easy away day, Leeds do have a very good record there having won every game there dating back to 2016 so I am fully expecting the same, even if the visitors don't have it their own way.
The Robins have scored in each of their last three games so I think they'll grab a goal this time again, and Nahki Wells is a familiar foe to Leeds fans.
Leeds to win and BTTS looks a good place to start in this game with that in mind. I am certain Leeds will get the three points, it's just a matter of whether it is to nil or not, but I do fancy them to concede, and that comes in at 3/1 with bet365.
I have had a habit of tipping either Mateo Joseph or Joel Piroe to score this season, but it has been pretty difficult to predict who will get the game time so I'm avoiding that this week, instead looking at a bet builder.
I like the look of the 17/2 bet builder bet365 are pushing, with Leeds winning, having the most corners and Bristol City taking the most yellow cards.
It's not that City are a dirty team or anything like that (they rank 17th in terms of cards shown), but I do think teams tend to approach playing Leeds in a pretty cynical manner so we could see a few cards in the game.
