Brighton v Manchester United Match Preview

For Fabian Hurzeler this managerial lark in the Premier League must seem rather easy. At just 31 years of age the German oversaw a resounding victory at Everton last Saturday.

A 3-0 win at the expense of the Toffees and if there were any fear that the Seagulls were going to destabilised by the departure of Roberto De Zerbi at the end of last season, those fears were certainly allayed on the opening weekend.

A new manager in charge of the East Sussex outfit and new players drafted in across the course of the summer. However, the Brighton machine has been running with interchangeable parts over the past few years and the latest delivery is seemingly no different to how it usually operates.

Admittedly, they did go up against a rather poor Everton side but considering all the chat before the game was towards the Toffees continuing their form from the back end of last season, their performance suggests they could be heading towards another nervy nine months.

No nerves for Brighton on the road and Saturday lunchtime sees them play host to Manchester United at The Amex – a team who also tasted that winning feeling on the opening weekend of the season.

Erik ten Hag is still very much in the Old Trafford hot seat after a summer of backroom change and there was also a change of attacking personnel required before managing to get the better of Fulham last Friday.

With Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes leading the line from the off, United looked rather blunt in attack and although plenty of chances were created by the former Sporting Lisbon star and his teammates, there was nothing in the way of causing the Cottagers any real trouble.

That was until manager ten Hag bought on compatriot Joshua Zirkzee and with the 23-year-old being given a cameo in attack, his late strike at the Stretford End would be enough to break Fulham hearts with just a few minutes remaining.

Not the best performance that Manchester United have offered under their current manager but simply getting off the mark with a maximum return is not something that should be underestimated and now they will look to make two wins from two in the Premier League.

But now it is time for the first of my two tips and with the bookmakers struggling to split the pair, it may make sense to go for the draw – especially as the 12:30 kickoff has a habit of sometimes making things slower than expected. With this in mind, the stalemate is priced at 27/10.

In addition to this, you can back a corner being the first set piece of the game. It does not matter who takes it, it just needs to be a kick from the quadrant in the first five minutes – should be the case, the outcome is priced at 11/1.
