Euro 2024 Group E Tip
Belgium will consider themselves fortunate, having being drawn in arguably the friendliest draw of the group stages and will have no trouble advancing into the knockout stages.
Romania are one side who did surprisingly well in qualification, making it through ahead of Switzerland and with an unbeaten record of six wins and four draws in their 10 games. Most impressive was a defensive record of just five goals conceded, and if they can produce something similar in Germany they should be able to make it out of the groups.

Euro 2024 Group E Team Profiles
Belgium
Euro 2024 is more than likely Belgium’s last shot at success with the remaining players from their ‘golden generation’.
Kevin De Bruyne is 32, Romelu Lukaku is 30 and Jan Vertonghen is 36, with the likes of Eden Hazard and Toby Alderweireld having already retired from international football.
Said players have so far failed to live up to expectations for their country, with back-to-back quarter-final finishes at Euro 2016 and 2020 their best showings. This time they are under new leadership in Dominico Tedesco, and a lot of focus will be on the fitness of De Bruyne after he has entered recent tournaments with an injury cloud hanging over his head.
Slovakia
Slovakia began competing for a spot at the European Championships in 1996, but did not qualify for the tournament until 2016.
They secured a last-16 spot at Euro 2016 and qualified for the following tournament in 2020, where they were knocked out at the group stage. Slovakia finished third in their group at Euro 2020, but did not accumulate enough points to make it into the knockout phase.
They qualified pretty comfortably even with a squad relatively light on top quality. They will be looking towards PSG’s Milan Skriniar to lead them, but retain the vastly experienced Peter Pekarik and Juraj Kucka, both of whom have well over 100 caps.
Romania
Romania have never really excelled at the European Championships in the past and did not even make it to Euro 2020.
But after an impressive showing in qualifying, Romania are looking to at least match their best-ever finish in the competition from 2000 when they reached the quarter-final stage.
Denis Alibec, Valentin Mihaila and skipper Nicolae Stanciu each scored three goals in qualifying and will once again be relied upon, while Ianis Hagi will be looking to put his name up in the spotlight alongside his dad’s, and Tottenham January signing Radu Dragusin could be a breakthrough player.
Ukraine
Ukraine had to go the long way around to qualify for Euro 2024 after finishing 3rd in their group but now they have booked their spot in Germany, Serhiy Rebrov is no doubt keen to build on their success at the last tournament.
Ukraine have only been to three European Championships, but Euro 2020 saw them make it all the way to the quarter-final before being knocked out by eventual runners-up, England.
With the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mykhailo Mudryk and Vitaliy Mykolenko, there are plenty of faces that fans of the Premier League will be familiar with and they represent a young and exciting crop of Ukraine players.
