Euro 2024 Group B Tip
It is hard to look beyond Spain in Group B this year, even in what looks like a tricky group with both Croatia and Italy posing a significant threat.
Gavi may be absent through injury and Pedri suffered an injury that ruled him out of the March internationals, but there is still plenty of star quality available to Luis de la Fuente and someone like Lamine Yamal could be set to announce himself on the biggest stage. They may not have enough to go all the way, but it is a new-look Spain squad that should fancy their chances of getting through the groups.

Euro 2024 Group B Team Profiles
Albania
Albania are set to feature at a European Championships for only the second time, eight years after making their debut in France, aiming to add to their sole major tournament victory so far, beating Romania 1-0 in Lyon back in 2016.
That said, the Black and Reds do face an uphill battle, having very much landed in the group of death, but Sylvinho’s side will be no push-overs.
They have a host of top-flight players from across Europe such as Kristjan Asllani (Inter Milan), Armando Broja (Fulham) and Berat Gjimshiti (Atalanta) who will be hoping their top-level experience could be enough to put them in with a shout of causing an upset or two.
Croatia
Croatia have been one of the teams of the last decade, having enjoyed stunning runs in back-to-back World Cups even with an aging squad.
Whether they have another tournament remains to be seen. We all know Luke Modric is a world class operator but he will be 38 heading into the tournament and will rely on the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Marcelo Brozavic to do the running for him, and with Kovacic in particular he has struggled to string together a run of games.
There are plenty of caps in this squad which should mean plenty of know-how, and Zlatko Dalic has been around for a long time but could it prove one tournament too far for Croatia or will they again be dogged and tough to beat?
Italy
Italy head into Euro 2024 as defending champions, but it has been far from straightforward for the Azzurri in recent years, having failed to qualify for successive World Cups and been less-than-convincing in qualifying this year.
They were handed a tough draw with 2020 runners-up England in the qualifiers - such is the price for a sustained lack of form - and scraped through courtesy of goal difference from Ukraine, with four wins, two draws and two defeats - though the two defeats to England are no shame.
It is something of a coin-flip for who finishes behind Spain in Group B but Italy will fall back on big-tournament experience and with players such as Jorginho, Feredico Chiesa, Nicolo Barella and Gianluigi Donnarumma they could manage to drag themselves through, but anything more than that is surely out of the question.
Spain
It is been a tricky few years for Spain, suffering disappointing exits in back-to-back World Cup but finishing third in the 2020 Euros, while also winning the 2023 Nations League.
There are certainly a few more chinks in the armour when compared to Spain teams of the past - they lost 2-0 to Scotland in March 2023 - but they will head into this year’s tournament full of confidence, having eased through qualifying with seven wins out of eight and will consider themselves more than capable of lifting the trophy in July.
If Pedri can return to full fitness ahead of the tournament that will be a huge boost to the squad and he will help form a world class midfield with Rodri, while Alvaro Morata is playing better than ever and in Lamine Yamal they have potentially one of the breakthrough stars of the tournament. They will be exciting to watch, but there might be too much inexperience in the squad to go all the way.
